Maps Unlimited worked together with Advanced Satellite Productions to create the Vancouver Island Satellite Image Map as a
prototype, companion hardcopy product to the MinistryÕs Baseline Thematic Mapping Program.
The Satellite Image Map is a complex merger
of traditionally produced map information floating over a mosaic of 9 different satellite images. The final product was a fine balance of
combining a rectified satellite image with highly visible map information.
This popular product has been well received as a successful
prototype Satellite Image Map. When the map was published in 1992, the National Geomatics Association awarded Maps Unlimited with the Most Innovative Map of the Year.
